Send objections to: Mr. S. Hopwood. Planning Officer Kirklees Metropolitan Council Planning Services PO Box B93 Civic Centre III Huddersfield HD1 2 JR
THE PROPOSED SITE IS INAPPROPRIATE. TURBINES ERECTED ON THIS SITE WOULD BE; Visually obtrusive. They are very big industrial machines that would dominate the landscape by size and constant movement. The proposed site is high above the surrounding area on a prominent ridge. The Visual amenity of hundreds of people living near to this site will be affected. Unacceptably close to settlements and individual properties in a domestic landscape. Eighteen hamlets and villages lie within two and a half miles of the site. Unacceptably close at a distance of just three miles to the established Wind Power Station at Royds Moor, Ingbirchworth three miles away, Many homes lie between the two sites. Intrusive to users of major roads, lanes and footpaths that run close to the site. They would produce visual, noise, shadowing and constant motion nuisance and public danger. Too close to listed buildings, detracting from their setting. A Grade II listed building is sited just 422 metres from the base of one of the turbines. Have an impact on the natural environment, both countryside and wildlife within the greenbelt. Turbines would industrialise the landscape. Produce electromagnetic disturbance to TV, radio and microwave signals. Produce constant noise nuisance. The closest village (Kitchenroyd) is just 700metres from the site, the closest houses, 411metres. Each turbine would produce 104 decibels of noise. Produce shadowing, flickering light as the sun passes behind the blades that would be distressing for residents and distracting and dangerous for road users. Impact upon public and highway safety. Separation distances from major roads, lanes, footpaths and people’s homes are inadequate. (Ice loss or mechanical disintegration of the 6.5 tonne blades travelling at 170mph could travel over 500 metres) Detract from the character and quality of the entire area causing a detrimental effect upon tourism, the housing market and the local economy. Pool Hill and the surrounding area is unsuitable for turbines of any kind because it has been extensively mined on several levels during the past. The ground is dangerously unstable and could cause turbines to overturn. (Independent mining survey by D. Carter Associates)
